Political, Community and Religious Leaders Ask for Sweeping Immigration Reform

Despite the unforgiving weather, more than a thousand people, including numerous New York Congress, State Assembly and City Council elected members, gathered yesterday in East Harlem at the pentecostal church La Sinagoga to ask for a federal response to the wave of deportations that is disrupting the lives of immigrant families throughout the country. The event was organized by CONLICO (Confraternidad de Líderes Conciliares), the Latino Leadership Circle, the Latino Pastoral Action Center, the National Hispanic Leadership Conference and the New York Council of Churches.
