Call For Papers: Cultural Journeys through the African Diaspora

On April 22 -24 of 2010, The City College of New York will host a conference to celebrate the myriad manifestations of life in the languages and literatures, the music and arts of the African Diaspora. Scholars and cultural workers from all areas of arts and humanities (Art, Dance, Drama, English, Ethnic Studies, Film, Languages, Linguistics, Literatures, International Studies, Music, Philosophy, Religion) and in all of the languages of the African Diaspora in the Americas are invited to participate.

Deadline for paper abstracts and proposals to complete panels, workshops, and roundtable discussions, including a brief description of the theme as well as abstracts for all speakers, is December 15, 2009. 

Submissions should detail requests for specific audiovisual equipment, if needed. Abstracts should be a minimum of 300 words. Selected papers from the conference will be published as conference proceedings. Please email abstracts to Dr. Vanessa K. Valdés at
