Organizers of Latin American Cultural Week Seek Interns

Pan American Musical Art Research, Inc. (PAMAR) is seeking part time interns to help with the production of the 4th Annual edition of Latin American Cultural Week (LACW). LACW is a yearly city-wide event produced by PAMAR, in collaboration with some of New York City’s most prestigious cultural institutions, and funded in part by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. The 2009 LACW will take place in venues across the city, from November 9-23th, and will feature more than 40 events, including music, arts, theater and dance performances, as well as cinema, literature talks, and arts exhibitions that speak to the richness of Latin American culture.

Intern responsibilities include: reaching out to Latin Media abroad and in the USA; help with marketing the Festival; organizing LACW press materials including those of previous years; help in the “in situ” production of PAMAR’s events as opening, closing and 25th year Celebration; translate from English to Spanish some of the press materials. The schedule is flexible, with a minimum of 10 hours a week, $ 10.00 per hour. School credit available upon arrangement. Interested applicants should e-mail resume and a brief cover letter to Ms. Polly Ferman at PollyFerman@PollyFerman.net.

The internship offers a wonderful opportunity to gain experience at a small, fast-paced non-profit, and be part of a city-wide cultural event that involves more than 50 participating institutions and performing artists. Ideal internship for anyone interested in press, development or marketing, as well as people interested in the arts and Latin American culture.  Interns will receive an invitation to some of LACW events.
