As part of the Festival, Peace Action New York State presents Fidel (Estela Bravo, 2001), a documentary on the political and social impact that the Cuban dictator had on the world during his rule. Suggested donation. July 8 (7.30 pm) 2012: A New Beginning? Screening of 2012: Time For Change (Joao Amorim, 2010), a film following journalist Daniel Pinchbeck's quest for a new paradigm that integrates the archaic wisdom of tribal cultures with the scientific method. July 15 - 22 Premiere Brazil! 2010.  The 8th annual exhibition of contemporary Brazilian cinema organized by The Museum of Modern Art, the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival and the Consulate General of Brazil in New York, opens tonight with the screeing of Lixo extraordinário (Waste Land, 2010), directed by Lucy Walker and co-directed by João Jardim and Karen Harley. This documentary follows Brazilian artist Vik Muniz portraits of people who subsist on the recyclables they scavenge from the world's largest landfill, Jardim Gramacho, outside Rio de Janeiro.
