MUSIC/ April 22-28

April 22-24 (see schedules below) Pilar Rioja. The famed Spanish dancer combines her modern, ballet and classical dance training with traditional Spanish dance forms. April 22 (10pm) Jerry Hernandez y La Orquesta Dee Jay. Check out one of the most swinging latin bands in the industry. At S.O.B.s, 45 Varick Street. For more information click here

April 24 (7pm) Sonia Megías. The Spanish Fulbright scholar performs work in a showcase from NYU graduate students. Megias' piece pays tribute to the women who died in the Triange Shirt Waist Factory fire that occured 100 years ago. At the NYU Black Box Theater, 82 Washington Square East. April 25 (7pm) Flamenco and Sevilanas Dance Workshop. Danced in four short sections called coplas, Sevillanas --named after the Spanish city, Seville-- are known for their charismatic, lively gracefulness. At the Roy Arias Studios, 400 West 43rd St. For more information click here.

April 26 (9 - 11 pm) Emilio Teubal Quartet. Featuring Moto Fukushima in electric bass, John Hadifeild in drums and percussion, Sam Sadigursky in clarinet and sax, and Emilio Teubal: keyboard/ new compositions. $10 cover At Nublu, 62 Ave C (bet. 4 and 5) For more information, click here.

April 28 (5-9pm) Self-Portrait Remix Performance. Each week the DJ Shaun El C Leonardo performs to seemingly disparate styles of dance and song. At Cafe Mezcal, 86 Orchard Street. For more information click here

April 28 (8pm) Maya Trio.  Presented by the Foundation for Iberian Music,  a concert of the diverse musical traditions of Spain. Featuring guest artist Cristina Pato. At the Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South. For more information click here.  

May 1 (8pm) Francisca Valenzuela in Concert One of the most internationally appealing singers to break out from Brazil, winner of a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. At the Highline Ballroom, 431 W 16th Street. For more information click here.
