June 14 (see schedules below) El Museo's Bienal: The (S) Files 2011. El Museo del Barrio's sixth annual biennial showcases over 75 emerging artists as it celebrates the most cutting-edge work being done by Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino artists in the New York area. June 15 (6:30 pm) Spanish Cinema: "Welcome Mr. Marshall" To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Spanish filmmaker Luis García Berlanga, a screening of one of his most famous films. June 15 - July 16 (see schedules below) Barri-O-Rama. A celebration of the artists of El Barrio, including work by Nayda Collazo-Llorens, Rosalinda González, Johnny Ramos, Hatuey Ramos Fermín, Emcee C.M., Master of None and Marna Cheste. June 15 - 19 (7:30 pm) Argentine Cinema: "Los Labios (The Lips)". This film, directed by Iván Fund and Santiago Loza, tells the story of three women who act as social workers in an impoverished rural Argentine community while trying to maintain their sanity. The June 17 and 19 showings are followed by a Q&A with producer Ivan Eibuszyc. At Maysles Cinema, 343 Malcolm X Boulevard. For more information click here

June 17 (7:00 pm - 12:00 am)  Human Rights Watch New York Film Festival.  Opening night with the screening of Granito: How to Nail a Dictator (Pamela Yates, Peter Kinoy, and Paco de Onís, 2011), the chronicle of how a two-decade-old documentary about dictatorship in Guatemala led to political upheaval. June 22 (6:30 pm) Film Screening: "Mamachas del ring." Betty M. Park's documentary follows the quest of one woman from the Bolivian Andes as she attempts, wearing traditional Aztec attire, to enter the masculine world of Bolivian wrestling. Dominican Republic: A Cultural Portrait. Photographer Katherine Taylor explores the cultural and natural beauty of Quisqueya. Jaume Plensa: Echo. Plensa's site-specific sculpture depicts a nine-year-old girl from his Barcelona neighborhood, lost in thought, towering forty feet high. Running through August 14 at Madison Square Park, 1 East 23rd Street. For more information click here.

Otherworldly: Small Delusions and Optical Realities. This show explores the interest of many modern artists in "magical realism," the small-scale, handmade depiction of artificial environments and alternate realities. A Lebanese-Dominican Dominican York Is Born Again as a Bronxite. Nicolas Dumit Estevez explores the perceptions and misperceptions that have shaped the Bronx since the 1960s, and in a group show, a number of other artists respond with perceptions of their own. Video Artists From Andalucia and The Bronx. This project pairs artists from the Bronx and Andalucia to collaborate on projects exploring cultural memory, day-to-day life, and popular ritual. Running through August 3 at the Longwood Arts Gallery at Hostos Community College, 450 Grand Concourse, the Bronx. Inés Esnal: Linescapes. Artist Inés Esnal presents 25 pieces exploring the tensions of lines and planes and how they define spaces using monographic etching, screenprinting, and installation.
