Running through May 20: Glass Cord (days and times at link below). A Nuyorican play set on a rooftop in the Bronx during the searing 1970s, where pigeons are trained, dangerous glass cords are made, a young girl is seduced, a family unravels and jagged emotions cut through the myth of the “maternal instinct.” Written by Evelyn Diaz Cruz and directed by Aminta de Lara. $20 ($15 students, $12 seniors). May 8 - June 3: American Jornalero (days and times at link below) Written by Ed Cardona Jr. and directed by Mariana Carreño King. Minutemen and day laborers collide near a mended fence on a street corner in Queens. May 12 - June 30: Platanos y Collard Greens (days and times at link below) A sweetly enacted tale of secret lovers, two college students from different cultures, attracted at first sight--until Mom finds out and has a heart attack! May 13 (2:30 pm) Locuras en Wichita. An elegant Puerto Rican woman and an irreverent Mexican man fall in love when they meet at an assisted living center in Wichita, Kansas. The play explores the lives and loves of two Americans who were warehoused but who find happiness. In Spanish. (ive English translation available). Tickets start at $27. May 18 - June 24:  La Callas & Medea (World Premiere Bilingual). Written by Jaime Salom, English version by G.J.Racz. An imaginary encounter between the operatic diva and the tragic character. With Soledad López and Kathy Tejada. Directed by Angel Gil Orrios. In Spanish: Saturdays, 8 pm, and Sundays, 4 pm. In English: Fridays, 8 pm, and Saturdays, 3 pm. May 29 (7 pm) Reading of “The Way of Water.” Written by Caridad Svich and directed by José Zayas, this new play pits the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico next to the lives of those directly affected by it. May 31 - June 2 (8 pm) Rasgos Asiáticos. Written by Vicky Grise. A memory play that takes place in the present tense as a story a Chicana of Chinese descent tells her lesbian lover of her family history. Traveling between the present and the past both in Texas and México, the play tells tales of migration, racism, woman loving and hurting. For mature audiences. Performed in English.
