Oscar Hijuelos, First Latino Pulitzer Prize for Literature, Is Dead at 62

Oscar Hijuelos, who immortalized New York's ebullient Latin Jazz scene and the Cuban immigrant experience of the pre-Castro era in his Pulitzer-winning novel The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love, died Sunday in Manhattan after collapsing during a tennis match.
